Primary images in this Post were taken in Midlands Province, Zimbabwe, using an iPhone camera tool and accessories for the cloud-art capture; and a Canon EOS 5D Mark III for the images of the farm watchdogs; as well as for the portrait of the dog at the end of this Post. Title of this Photographic Series: A Dog’s Life: Watchdogs.
Images available in series from Nature Talk Art Permanent Gallery. Touching the Heart – Touching Infinity.
THE COMPANIONSHIP, dedication and loyalty of a good watchdog are legendary. And out of all our natural companions in the animal-kingdom “Man’s Best Friend” is evidently numbered amongst the very finest!
- As we all no doubt know: – dogs possess innumerable companionable attributes and they can bring immense joy to their devoted owners along with a very real sense of security.

THE CLOUD-ART photographic series featured in this Post was captured in Kwekwe, Midlands Province, Zimbabwe. On a separate occasion, but also in Midlands Province the beautiful farm watchdogs featured in the Post [of which there are two such dogs at the farm] were likewise photographed. What is interesting is that the cloud-art seems quite strikingly to represent precisely this sort of a watchdog standing alert on a hill, perhaps.
- Nature’s “cloud-art” is intriguing because the images come together out of the apparent formlessness of the atmospheric conditions prevailing at any given time; and then the artworks seem to recede back into that formlessness leaving almost no trace of their fleeting existence. Not all clouds are “cloud-art” formations, so when the moment comes to capture a cloud-art piece, through photography, that photograph and that moment remain priceless!
Man’s Best Friend

FOR THOSE of us who enjoy the peaceable companionship of dogs of all types, it’s hard to find more trusting, loyal, faithful and dedicated friends in the animal kingdom!

Fast Facts
- All domestic dogs belong to the family grouping known as Canidae;
- and the word “canine” derives from the Latin root word “Canis,” meaning “dog”; which is also the root for “Canidae”.
- Dogs in the Alsatian grouping are often considered to make good watchdogs, especially when trained correctly, because, by nature, Alsatians tend to exhibit traits of loyalty, territoriality and strong protective instincts, amongst other notable attributes.
